Every piece in the Polly Barton Ceramics studio begins with a conversation. Whether you're looking for a singular statement piece for your home, a considered gift, or a bespoke collection for a project, we work with you to create ceramics that are entirely your own — shaped by your space, your palette, and your vision.

What Can Be Commissioned

We accept commissions across our core forms — bowls, vases, platters, and sculptural vessels — in custom glazes, dimensions, and finishes. Our signature Wave and Ruffle Fold forms are available for bespoke work, and we're open to exploring new directions for the right project. Each piece is handcrafted in our Sydney studio, so no two are ever identical.

The Collaboration Process

We keep the process simple and personal. Once you reach out, we'll arrange a brief consultation — by email or call — to understand your brief, discuss form and finish options, and confirm feasibility. From there, we'll provide a quote and timeline before any work begins. You'll receive updates at key stages, and we welcome your input throughout.

  1. Get in touch — share your idea, inspiration images, and any size or colour preferences.
  2. Consultation — we discuss your brief and explore what's possible.
  3. Quote & confirmation — you receive a detailed quote and estimated lead time.
  4. Creation — your piece is handcrafted in our Sydney studio.
  5. Delivery — carefully packed and shipped to your door, or available for local pickup.

Lead Times & Pricing

Custom commissions typically require 6–10 weeks from confirmation to delivery, depending on complexity and current studio capacity. Pricing is determined by form, size, glaze, and quantity — we'll provide a full quote before you commit. A 50% deposit is required to begin work, with the balance due prior to dispatch.

Custom commissions are non-refundable once work has commenced. All pieces are made to order and may vary slightly from reference images due to the handcrafted nature of the work.
